Artificial intelligence arrived in childhood faster than any technology before it. It writes the homework, answers the questions, and shapes the feed — long before anyone teaches a young person how it actually works, or where its judgment ends and theirs must begin.
We started You & AI because that gap felt urgent. Not the abstract gap in a policy report — the everyday one, in a bedroom at 10pm, where a child treats a confident machine as if it were always right. The danger was never that young people would use AI. It's that they'd use it without ever being taught to question it.
So our position is simple. AI is one of the most powerful tools a human being will ever hold. Like any powerful tool, the outcome depends entirely on the person wielding it — their curiosity, their scepticism, their sense of what's right. Those things are not downloaded. They're taught, practised, and modelled by people who care.

That is the whole of our ambition, and the meaning of our name. Not You vs AI — a contest no child should be told they're losing. Not You as AI — a future where human judgment quietly dissolves into the machine. But You & AI: a partnership, with a capable, confident, critical human firmly in the lead.
We are at the very beginning. No grand archive of past work, no decade of reports. What we have is a clear conviction and a plan we intend to keep. If that resonates, the rest of this page is an invitation.
Four principles we will not trade away.
Safety first, always
A guided, supervised, age-appropriate path into AI. We build a responsible relationship with technology from the very first lesson — never exposure for its own sake.
Real competency
Technical fundamentals — data, algorithms, how models reason — taught alongside the human skills of creativity, critical thinking and ethics. So children work with AI, not under it.
Open to everyone
Free, high-quality materials for every school and family, whatever their budget or background. AI literacy cannot become another advantage reserved for the few.
Built with, not at
We enrich the national curriculum rather than compete with it, working shoulder to shoulder with teachers, parents and experts who know their communities best.
